Frequently asked questions
What is brand photography, and how is it different from a regular photo shoot?
Brand photography is a shoot planned around what your business needs its photos to do, not just how you look in them. Tamara Lee starts every Calgary shoot by asking whether you're launching something new, rebranding, or trying to reach a different kind of client, and the answer builds the shot list. The photos end up as tools for your website, social, and marketing instead of a gallery of pretty pictures.
Who is Tamara Lee Studios' brand photography for?
It's for founders and small business owners in Calgary who would rather look like themselves than a stock photo. Past clients include a skin care business, a homeware and interior design store owner in Wainwright, and a yoga teacher. If you have a real reason for new photos, like a launch or a pivot, you're the right kind of fit.
What happens before the shoot?
Before the shoot, you book a consultation and Tamara works out what your photos need to do. From there she plans the shoot with you, including the shot list, so you know what to expect on the day. She'd rather get the strategy sorted first and have fun on shoot day.
What brand photography packages are available?
Packages run from a 30-minute portrait session up to a full day of content for the quarter. A content subscription is also an option if you want your photos to stay current as your business changes, which is what the Wainwright store owner does. If a smaller package fits you better, Tamara will say so on the consultation. Current pricing is on the Services page.
Can I use the photos however I want in my business?
Yes, your photos come with a Commercial Rights license, so you can use them across your website, social, and marketing. Every photography package also includes basic retouching and a selects gallery, where you choose the frames that get edited. Tamara wants you to leave with images you can put to work right away.
What if I'm nervous about being in front of the camera?
Being nervous is normal, and Tamara directs the shoot so you aren't left guessing what to do. One client who was reluctant to appear on camera went on to call the images stunning. A little play is part of the process, so expect some fun along with the direction.
